Born in 1936, Thomas Yeo graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. He then studied in Chelsea School of Art and Hammersmith College of Art and Architecture in London. Since then, Yeo has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions and in 1984, he was awarded the Cultural Medallion. Many of Yeo’s paintings in the late 1960s to early 1970s favoured a chromatic scheme of blue, green and yellow, suggesting that this undated work was probably executed around that time. Here, Yeo investigates the interplay and relationships between the formal elements of form and colour, whereby individual forms are clearly delineated and retain their distinctive shapes, and the water is indicated by the wavy, intersecting lines.
