Born in 1936, Thomas Yeo graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. He then studied in Chelsea School of Art and Hammersmith College of Art and Architecture in London. Since then, Yeo has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions and in 1984, he was awarded the Cultural Medallion. Many of Yeo’s paintings in the late 1960s to early 1970s favoured a chromatic scheme of blue, green and yellow, indicating that this undated work was probably executed around that time. Although the painting is untitled, its strong horizontal axis and use of blues and greens suggest a reference to nature and landscape. Delineations through different tones of blue create boundaries, confining the interaction of forms to the middle of the canvas, where energy is injected into the composition through the juxtaposition of colours of different hues.
