Born in 1971, Yunizar graduated from Institut Seni Indonesia in 1993 and SMSR, Sumatra in 1998. He started out as a member of the Jendela group, whose members’ aesthetic concerns appear to be rooted in abstract expressionism. His works are inspired by daily life, such as the feeling of being touched by the wind or notions of quietness. Since 1994, Yunizar has held solo and group exhibitions in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
