Malaysian one-dollar coin

This is a Malaysian one-dollar coin. Bank Negara Malaysia became the sole issuer of currencies in Malaysia on 12 June 1967. It was also the same day when the first series of Malaysian coins were issued (all in five denominations). The one-dollar coin, however, was only issued on 1 May 1971. The other side of the coin depicts the Parliament building, a crescent moon representing Islam, the official religion of the country, and the 13-pointed star representing Malaysia’s 13 states.
