This is a Malaysian 20-cent coin. Bank Negara Malaysia became the sole issuer of currencies in Malaysia on 12 June 1967. It was also the same day when the first series of Malaysian coins were issued, including the 20-cent coin. Since 1971, coins valued at one cent to 50 cents have been minted at the Bank Negara Malaysia Mint at Batu Tiga in Shah Alam, Selangor. The other side of the coin depicts the Parliament building, a crescent moon representing Islam, the official religion of the country, and the 13-pointed star representing Malaysia’s 13 states.
