Huanghuali document box

The distinct figuring of this huanghuali wood grain is dramatically set against a simple rectangular design. At the front, original circular lock plate set flush with the surface completes a bended lip. Top corners decorated with ruyi-shaped brass mounts adjoining corner reinforcements. On either end "ox-nose" bail handles are mounted from chrysanthemum-shaped plates, resting against knock-plates of similar designs. The interior top panel has a complex form of the character "three" in cursive hand. Used for storage of personal items, such as documents.
