This vessel was used to store water from the Zamzam well which is located near the Ka‘bah, and was brought back by a pilgrim from Indonesia. Zamzam water is drunk to refresh oneself as well as to receive barakah or blessings. It is believed by some to have curative powers. Even today, returning pilgrims bring back litres of Zamzam water in plastic containers.
