Summons in chambers for the case between Loona Slayman, Hoossain Nachai Beebee, Mohamed Alli and others

These are the summons in chambers published on 24 October and 26 October 1888 concerning the case between Loona Slayman and Hoossain Nachai Beebee (plaintiffs) and Mohamed Alli and others (defendants). Both summons required the plaintiffs and some of the defendants to appear in court on 29 October 1888. These documents are part of a collection of legal documents from the 19th and early 20th centuries which provides a glimpse into the work of the notable personalities who left their mark on Singapore’s legal history, and the economic and other transactions undertaken by ordinary immigrants in 19th century Singapore that tell stories of misfortune and indebtedness which would otherwise have disappeared from history.
