Born in Singapore in 1965, Boo Sze Yang received his formal fine art training from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), graduating in 1991, and obtained a Master in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts and Design in 2004. Since 1996, Boo has participated in more than 30 exhibitions, including five solo exhibitions. He has also won several awards in renowned art competitions such as the Distinction Award at the UOB Painting of the Year Competition in 1996 and 2002; and the Juror’s Choice at the Philip Morris Singapore-Asean Art Awards in 2003.This is a work from the House of God series that is based on Boo’s visits to various museums and churches in Europe. With a limited colour palette of grey, black and brown, the soaring vastness of the interior is painted with expressive brushwork.
