This shield is made of a wood panel with strengthening spars held in place with rattan strips stitched to the panel. It is painted with natural pigments. The shape of the shield is believed to provide the bearer with the ability to see his opponent better while the shield still provides some form of protection. This shield was made by the Bontoc people from the Cordillera region of Northern Luzon.
