The peach shape of this vase and the enamel decoration of a 'Hundred Deers' and pine trees are all motifs assoicated with the Taoist belief of logevity. The Chinese word for 'deer' is 'lu', which also means 'prosperity' and a large number of them increases the auspiciousness of the motif.
